Sun information
Hello friends,
I am telling you about THE SUN!!!
Reader Gillian K wanted to know about the sun.
Basically in the great and terrible darkness that surrounds us all theres a bunch of shit colliding all the time. Part of the deal with the big bang is that it was an explosion that let everything the universe is made out of get all over the place and I’m not trying to talk shit about the infinite beauty of the cosmos but it is, considered another way, sort of just a big mess that we got lucky was gross in a way that allowed life to evolve. There’s all kinds of weird holes and clouds of radiation bigger than the world and fields of debris from unknown collisions and sometimes there will be a huge ball of gas and the big ball of gas will catch fire and because it is such a very big ball of gas it takes billions of years to go out. This is what all the stars in the sky are, and all of those are suns, just like The Sun which we see in the sky.
The sun is pretty good because it makes it possible to be alive on this planet. All the planets on our solar system are too far away from it for life to really get going very good. There might be some germs on Mars and the distant moons of Jupiter, or at least some water which people are sure must have germs in it because waters good for germs to live in, but that’s all basically too far away from the sun to turn into plants or animals. I could be wrong but if I am I’ll most likely be wrong in a million years and I don’t think I’ll care. Our sun is on the way out, it’s only got I think 5 billion years left? That’s pretty good for a dude but time to take the car keys away for a sun. Still, the lives of every human being ever have taken place inside the sun’s slide into decrepitude so that’s pretty good, she’s like a cool grandma who lets us get away with whatever.
The sun is made of stuff like a corona and a core and it’s bigger than a million earths and we can never go there because it’s so hot that if you even got a little bit near it you would be the most melted person in history. People like to go places but you basically shouldn’t even think of the sun like a place. It’s a big ball of fire that is only not killing you because you’re not in killin’ range. It’s not evil it just emits murder beams that from far enough away can be grabbed by intrepid lifeforms and used as life beams. Shout out to life on wanting to exist! I once read that if you look at what plants are made out of, like really properly look, the water and dirt and air provide a fairly small amount of it’s mass and most of it literally comes from light. They turn the sun’s kill beams into trees that blast life gas into the air. I could be fatally misremembering that or it could have been a lie but it’s cool to hear and I’m fairly certain nobody will die from me thinking it’s true so let’s go ahead and think that.
A cool thing about the sun is everybody alive in the world from frogs and dogs to humans and giants know about it. We all become alive from it and we all also have to sometimes flee it because that thing is not actively trying to kill you but it straight up doesn’t care if you get so dehydrated or sunburnt that you die. Sunshine is good but too much and your skin burns all up and your head falls off. Also not enough sunshine and you get sick and die too. Yeesh, another shout out to life forms on being able to put up with all this shit just to exist, it’s a lot to remember. Some other cool stuff about the sun is you can use its murder beams to power your house and your car and your phone and stuff, your eyes will be destroyed if you try to look at it very much, and although it can be cool to imagine in a poetic kind of way it’s not alive and does not have a mind. You can scream at the sun and flip it off whenever you want, it does not have feelings you can hurt. There are no consequences for screaming your lungs out at the sun, except possibly social ones if you’re observed.
Thank you for reading my big the sun email! If you would like to find out about something, tell me and I will try to already know about it.
Love,
Ryland Duncan
